Elementary Olympiad builds confidence and community

The Springfield Public Schools’ Elementary Science Olympiad on Nov. 8 brought together 10 elementary schools and nearly 200 students for hands-on science activities and competitions.
SPS partnered with Missouri State University to put on the event. MSU student volunteers helped SPS students explore multiple events and helped create a positive and memorable experience for all the kids. With their help, the elementary students were able to leave the event with a strong sense of accomplishment and the meaningful impact of community collaboration.
“We are proud of all our students who represented their schools with curiosity, creativity and teamwork,” said Chelsie Floyd, coordinator of K-5 science, social studies and computers.
